The CLAIM Act (H.R. 4037) requires states to adopt uniform or reciprocal adjuster licensing laws for independent claims adjusters that will enable adjusters who are properly licensed in their designated home states to assess and settle claims across state lines without discrimination.
Urge Congress to Support the CLAIM Act
Two bills (A. 10952 & A.10948) recently introduced in the New York State Assembly would streamline the adjuster licensing process by eliminating the individual surety bond and character reference requirements. New York is among only a handful of states to impose these requirements which have not been shown to be effective in protecting consumers.
